Porch Ceramics was founded by Ryan Der & Sammy Smith. Ryan has been immersed in the ceramic world for many years, beginning in Los Angeles and moving to Sydney to continue creating & sharing his knowledge. Sam’s background in cheffing and food presentation always gave him the desire to create beautiful, bespoke pieces to serve from. Finally, after years of flipping plates at restaurants to discover who the artist was behind the vessel he met master ceramicist Ryan and they started creating together. Their first range was for Porch & Parlour, all tableware to the sculptural vases on the shelves, everything that was served on or in the venue was handmade in Tamarama. The practical designs and functionality of the Porch Ceramics product is something that is unique to Ryan & Sammy; there is a sense of humour in this art. Their personality is visible in every unique, quality piece. They now produce for many commercial spaces, offer lessons and group experiences, create custom pieces for a variety of projects and have a range of lighting. The PC studio is located in North Fremantle, Western Australia.
